Born 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri, George Ennis was a painter who was also known for his murals and works in stained glass. He studied with William Merritt Chase, and taught painting at two of his own schools in New York and Eastport, Maine. He produced works in oil, pastel, charcoal & pencil, and watercolor. Exhibited: Salon of Independent Artists, Corcoran Gallery, Art Institute of Chicago. Awards: 1922, 1923, 1925,1931,1932, 1933. A number of his important works are in the permanent collection of The Peavey Memorial Library, Eastport. He died prematurely in an automobile crash outside Utica, New York, in 1936.
